Optical wireless: where next?

In the last three decades optical wireless has matured from LED based systems providing Mbit/s connectivity to Terabit/s capable systems, standards for optical wireless, and an emerging commercial landscape. Large constellations of satellites are now beginning to deploy free space links in space, and new detectors, wavelength regions, and beamsteering technologies are being explored.
This talk presents some of these developments, current and emerging challenges, and possible areas where optical wireless may find its place in the emerging 6G landscape.
